The Historic Boiler Building

Originally built in 1918, the rusticated brick building was constructed for the Kewanee Boiler Company [hence the current name, “The Boiler Building”] at a price of $7,500. In the early 1990s, developer Tom Levitt remodeled the building, removing a labyrinth of oak wood and glass partitions and creating a more modern layout of combined drywall and repurposed partitions within the 14’ foot high space. Embossed tin ceilings were left in the bathroom and adjacent hallway, and the green granite floor moldings were returned to link to the historic construction. The McLeod Law Firm has preserved the original crane system between the two buildings, and created a relaxing patio there for guests and staff.
